Validation.com has announced that they are discontinuing service on April 9, 2023. After this date, the WHMCS features that relate to Validation.com will cease to function.

When is this happening?

Validation.com has announced the following timeline for discontinuation of service:

  • Support for ID checks will end on April 7th, 2023.
  • Access to submissions will end on August 21st, 2023.
  • All data retention and access will end on September 1st, 2023.

What should I do?

If you use Validation.com, we recommend taking the following actions:

  1. Before April 7th, 2023, disable Automatic Requests in the Validation.com configuration settings at Configuration > System Settings > Fraud Protection.
  2. Before August 21st, 2023, disable Verification Features in the Validation.com settings at Configuration > System Settings > Fraud Protection.

For more information on updating these settings, see User Identify Verification.

What is the impact of doing nothing?

If you do not disable these settings, there will be no customer impact.

If the system flags an order as high risk by MaxMind or FraudLabs Pro, it will not prompt clients to complete identity verification. Instead, users will see the standard Fraud Check error message:

Fraud Check Error screen

The system will also log an error at Configuration > System Log:

Invalid token in response from Validation.com

If an admin attempts to initiate or review a submission, a An unexpected error occurred. error message will display:

An unexpected error occurred.

What alternative solutions are available?

WHMCS users are currently exploring potential alternative services via the WHMCS Community forums. To join the discussion, see Validation.com Alternatives.

Due to the short timelines that Validation.com provided, we cannot currently provide an alternative solution within WHMCS.
